  • System Engineer – April 6, 2011 –

    The system engineer is responsible for designing and developing new products as well as improving existing products. He is the link between the product manager and the engineering team translating product definition into system specifications. He then defines system tests in order to verify the system performance. He is responsible for system trouble shooting as well as continuously improving the system performance. He is also in charge of identifying new technology and components for product improvement and cost reduction.

    Roles and Reponsibilities

    • Elaborate system/sub-system specifications, test plans and risk analysis;
    • Select optical and photonics components for clinical and preclinical imaging systems;
    • Characterize and qualify components, sub-systems, and systems;
    • Conduct the in-house system tests and review the results of tests conducted externally;
    • Prepare reports on the results of the testing of systems and their sub-assemblies;
    • Interact with software specialists to develope operating programs for the medical/research imaging device;
    • Lead in design reviews for internal and external design engineering work;
    • Provide direction to technologists involved in the tooling of custom parts for prototypes of medical/research imaging devices;
    • In charge of product transfer once design is frozen;
    • Support manufacturing activities;
    • Problem isolation and resolution for the different systems;
    • Carry out all other tasks and responsibilities related with the exercise of the function.

    Education

    • B. Eng or M. Sc. in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or other engineering fields.

    Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

    • 3-7 years of experience in product development;
    • Track record of system engineering;
    • Experience in optical and photonic components, devices, and/or systems;
    • Experience in development of medical product is an asset;
    • Experience in an ISO environment is an asset.

    • Bilingual;
    • Task and result oriented;
    • Autonomous with team spirit;
    • Attention to details;
    • Troubleshooting skills.
